NICEVILLE — A free IT Pro camp is 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 20 in the Student Services Center, Northwest Florida State College, 100 College Blvd., Niceville.
Geared toward professional development for those working in the information technology field, the camp is also open to high school or college students or the general public who have an interest in computer science. Advance registration at http://itprocamp.com/northwestflorida is requested as space is limited. At-the-door registration the day of the event is on a space-available basis. The event includes door prizes from Microsoft and refreshments.
A variety of topics will be included, such as Windows Server 2012 & Hyper-V, Storing PowerShell Output, Windows 8- How it Changes the World of Development, Windows Azure and IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service), Windows Intune Deployment, Inside Office 365, Build and Manage a Server Core Infrastructure and more. The focus on IT Pro-related technologies will benefit system administrators, IT professionals and database professionals, in addition to managers at all levels who work with Microsoft technologies and students in IT or computer related fields.
The camp, which is co-sponsored by the college, Microsoft, Sherlock Tech, and Florida IT Server Group, will feature national as well as local expert presenters. One of the primary presenters is Blain Barton of Microsoft. Barton has been with Microsoft for 19 years and has held many diverse positions.
His career started in 1988 as team leader in Manufacturing and Distribution, progressed to PSS team manager for Visual Basic Product Support, product consultant for Microsoft Word Division, and OEM systems engineer. He currently serves as a senior IT Pro evangelist.
Barton has organized and delivered a wide array of technical events, has presented more than 1,000 live events and has received more than six “top-presenter” speaking awards.
He has traveled around the world three times delivering OEM training sessions on pre-installing Microsoft Windows on new PCs.
