CRESTVIEW — Police were investigating a suspicious bottle and package found in the parking lot of a BP gas station Wednesday evening. The bottle and package were wrapped in duct tape and appeared to have remnants of a substance inside, said Crestview police Lt. Andrew Schneider. The materials looked as though they could have been used as a portable methamphetamine lab, also known as a “shake and bake.” The package was found about 7 p.m. at the gas station at the corner of North Ferdon Boulevard and First Avenue. The area was cordoned off. Okaloosa County sheriff’s investigators were en route to the scene about 8:15 p.m. to help determine whether the package was a portable meth lab, Schneider said. No additional information was available late Wednesday.
