CRESTVIEW — Investigator David Henry’s peers named him Crestview Police Department’s Officer of the Year. Mayor David Cadle and Police Chief Tony Taylor recognized Henry and his accomplishments during Monday’s city council meeting.
“This young man here, he gets it,” Taylor said in presenting Henry to the council. “This young man stood out” from other nominees.
Henry facilitated in numerous arrests that included suspects who respectively stole 15 air conditioners, $1,000 in cash and a $15,000 ATV; and those accused of six armed robberies, two armed home invasions and 21 vehicle burglaries, Taylor said.
Henry also arrested two suspects on racketeering charges using Eglin Federal Credit Union to commit fraud; arrested a suspect wanted in a “high-profile sexual battery case,” and seized more than $110,000 in “spice,” or illegal synthetic narcotics, Taylor said.
Henry joined the police department in June 2009 and served as a patrol officer before moving to the Street Crimes Unit for a brief stint, spokesperson Lt. Andrew Schneider said.
“He’s a hard worker. He’s moved up to his current position,” Schneider said. “If we have major cases, he’s the type who’s diligent at resolving them. He’s had a good arrest record.”
“He epitomizes what we have here at the Crestview Police Department,” Taylor said.
