Riverside collects 165 pajama sets

Riverside students collected 165 pajamas sets for needy children this year.

CRESTVIEW — Last month, Riverside Elementary’s faculty, families and students collected 165 pajama sets for local needy children. The effort was part of the Parents and Teachers Working Together organization’s 3rd Annual Pajama Drive.

Collections were donated to the Emerald Coast Children's Advocacy Center.

“It made me feel good and happy to give pajamas to kids that need them,” third-grader Gabe McCallen said.

Riverside is fostering a sense of giving in its students with its Giving Instead of Receiving program, spearheaded by fourth-grade teacher Jennifer Richards and Guidance Counselor Connie Rice.

Classrooms are foregoing a traditional gift exchange and are sponsoring a needy child instead.
