Man charged with careless driving for rear-ending bus

CRESTVIEW — A Crestview man was charged with careless driving for hitting the back of a school bus that was loaded with students heading for a basketball game.

No one was injured in the Tuesday evening accident and damage to both vehicles was minimal.

Ryan Alan Spillane, a 33-year-old Crestview resident, was cited after the 6 p.m. crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol press release.

The bus was stopped in westbound traffic on U.S. Highway 98 at the intersection of Cody Avenue when the accident occurred.

Spillane told the trooper that he was in stop-and-go traffic and failed to stop before striking the rear of the bus.

The bus had 15 teenagers and two adults on board, the release stated.
