TAMPA — Lori Baggett of Crestview is among 12 newly elected Carlton Fields shareholders, the firm announced at its 2013 annual meeting.
Eleven associates and one of counsel, in various offices throughout the firm, and practices, were elevated. Baggett previously served as an associate in the firm’s Tampa office.
Baggett was also chosen to be a member of the 2013 class of Fellows, participating in a landmark program created by the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity to identify, train, and advance the next generation of leaders in the legal profession.
“This is a singular honor for Lori,” said Gary Sasso, president and CEO of Carlton Fields. “Lori joins a select group of experienced attorneys from diverse backgrounds who have been recognized for their potential as leaders in their organizations.”
According to LCLD Executive Director Robert J. Grey, Jr., the LCLD Fellows Program offers participants “an extraordinarily rich year of relationship-building, virtual and in-person training, peer-group projects, and extensive contact with LCLD’s top leadership.”
In her practice, Baggett handles litigation matters in federal and state court, including construction litigation and construction contracts, employment defense, and other commercial litigation matters.
In addition, Baggett has experience defending companies in disputes involving coverage under the Fair Labor Standards Act; defending discrimination and retaliation claims under federal and state law, including Title VII, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act , the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Florida Civil Rights Act; handling claims involving non-compete agreements; and defending design professionals and contractors in breach of contract matters, negligence matters, and investigations by the Occupational Safety & Health Administration.
Florida Super Lawyers selected Baggett as a 2010, 2011, and 2012 Rising Star, and she is a graduate of the Leadership Tampa Class of 2010. She received her J.D., cum laude, from Stetson University College of Law and her B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of South Alabama.
She is the daughter of Novella and Dwight Baggett of Crestview.
