Vehicle strikes car at gas pumps; fire closes S.R. 85 in Crestview

CRESTVIEW — Southbound traffic is again flowing through the site of a morning wreck in which a vehicle traveled through the intersection by the Robinson Avenue Tom Thumb and struck another vehicle whose owner was pumping gas. That vehicle caught fire.

Crestview Police Department spokesman Lt. Andrew Schneider said authorities blocked State Road 85 when the vehicle at the gas pump caught fire. Witnesses were able to pull the driver who was pumping gas away from the pump island.

Witnesses at the scene reported multiple emergency vehicles responded to the accident.

"Southbound traffic is good to go," Schneider reported about 8:45 a.m.

News Bulletin reporter Matthew Brown was on the scene and will file an update.
