CRESTVIEW — The fourth annual Annelise's Wild Mustang Run on Saturday at Shoal River Middle School raised $820 for the school track team.
Proceeds will help purchase team uniforms, boys track coach Karl Lavine said.
The number of participants, 33, dipped from last year’s more than 100 runners, event organizer and girls track coach Summer Purcell said.
A competing 5K run on the county’s south end may have contributed to the dip, organizers said.
Many participants were school faculty members or students.
Track members Alyssa Johnson and Jazmyn Martinez, both 14, plan to try out for Crestview High School’s track team next year.
The event continued to honor the school's former attendance receptionist, Annelise Adams, who died from cancer in 2010.
"She was just a person that could bring out the best in you," her sister, Darlene Franzen, said.
The school’s observance of Adams’ memory means a lot to the family, she said.
Adams’ children, Amy and A.J., were among participants.
"It’s really nice to know that so many people still support this," Amy, 17, said.
