Simply Pink Boutique offers variety of handmade gifts in Crestview

CRESTVIEW — Simply Pink Boutique has become a one-stop shop for fans of handmade clothes and home decor.

Co-owner Jason O'Daniels and his wife April offer a variety of gifts from more than 30 vendors, and 20 direct-sales vendor catalogs, from Avon to Mary Kay, are available at the counter.

Each vendor rents space to sell his or her products; it’s an opportunity for residents — whether local or as far away as Georgia and Denver — who can’t afford their own brick-and-mortar establishment.

The result is a one-of-a-kind store where Hub City shoppers can buy handmade apparel, vendors said.

"There really is not a place like this in Crestview, that I am aware of," Kari Lyles said. "Now you have an alternative, especially if you are looking for something handcrafted."

Lyles, one of several military mom vendors, sells 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) embroidered merchandise for all ages.

Like most of the boutique’s vendors, she allows custom orders. She may embroider names on shirts or special messages for a soldier’s homecoming.

Marsha Gardner's "All Things Quilted" area features the Florala resident’s handmade quilted items and handbags. The boutique’s setup helps her profit from her hobby.

"I had a bad car wreck several years ago and I don't get around like I used to, so I spend hours at the sewing machine," she said.

Lyles and Gardner have collaborated on previous custom orders. When a customer of Gardner's wants something embroidered, Lyles has helped.

"I think that it is great that we can work together," Gardner said.

April O'Daniels plans to involve direct-sales vendors by having a quarterly outdoors event. Additionally, the store is opening a room inside the boutique to host direct-sales parties.

"We are giving the people in the community the opportunity to show off their talents," Jason O'Daniels said. "We are trying to help over 50 sales vendors get their products out there.”
