LAUREL HILL — Laurel Hill School officials are searching for the owner of several family photo albums that the school received.
A couple of years ago, the school received a box of photo albums mixed in with a donation of school art supplies, Carol Brown, the school's administrative secretary, said.
"It was a couple of summers ago when the supplies came," Brown said.
When discovered, staffers tried to contact the donor, but couldn’t reach them. They’ve since lost the contact information, Brown said.
Last week, Brown dedicated her free time and lunch breaks to searching for the albums’ owner.
Several of the albums contain family photos from special occasions including birthday parties and family trips.
Brown has looked through one family scrapbook that chronicles a portion of the life of Leslie Edward Atkinson, who was born in Shell Lake, Wis., in 1957.
Brown believes Leslie’s mother, Marlene Oetting, created the book.
The scrapbook also features Atkinson's report cards, pamphlets from school plays he performed in, and the marriage announcement to this wife, Jean, in 1979.
The photo albums depict a portion of Atkinson's life, from birth to his many accomplishments in the United States Air Force.
Atkinson, who would be 56 this year, has mementos posted for one child, listed as Nicholas Edward Atkinson, in the scrapbook. He was born at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma. No birth year was given.
The Internet has aided Brown’s quest. She found a Leslie E. Atkinson, with a Crestview address and phone number, with help from a school employee with access to an ancestry website.
She couldn’t make contact at the phone number listed. However, Facebook held another lead.
Brown said she found Atkinson — listed as living in Oklahoma City — on the site, along with a couple of Atkinson family members. She sent several messages last week to each, but hasn’t received a response.
If that avenue fails, Brown is considering visiting the Crestview address she received to see if she can find more information on Atkinson.
