CRESTVIEW – A county jail inmate will report to court Aug. 13 after being accused of tackling and striking a female jail employee, an arrest report indicates.
The alleged assault took place July 13 at the Okaloosa County jail. The trustee told an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputy she tried to enter a dorm after hearing a disturbance and 34-year-old Jennifer Lynn Smith of Milton tried to push past her. When the trustee tried to shut the door to prevent Smith from leaving the dorm, Smith allegedly tackled and struck her, knocking her head against the floor.
Smith was charged with battery on a detention center staff member, a felony.
