More than 100 people got wet from water guns, sprinklers and a Crestview Fire Department fire hose while running the race on the school track.
Fun aside, the main goal didn’t escape one young athlete’s mind.
"It's nice to raise money for our press box by just doing some fun stuff and getting in shape," Chris Raines, 13, the school's starting quarterback, said.
Sean Aguilar, who participated with his son Koby, 12, a cross country team member, said the event allowed him to learn firsthand about the team’s challenging runs.
"I admire the cross country kids because that course they run — there were some hills," Aguilar said.
Cross-country coach Kelly Buckelew appreciated the turnout for the first-time event.
"We had a little over a hundred participants," she said. "We were hoping for a little over a hundred…being the first time doing it."
