Southside Center temporarily locked down as police search for suspect

The Southside Center, which houses a pre-K program, was temporarily locked down Wednesday morning while Crestview Police officers searched for a suspect with an outstanding warrant.

CRESTVIEW — The Southside Center was temporarily locked down Wednesday morning as Crestview Police Department officers searched for a suspect who had a warrant issued for his arrest.

"He was non-violent offender but we called for the lockdown as a precautionary measure," police spokesman Lt. Andrew Schneider said.

Schneider said the suspect had been seen on foot in the area of the school, which is located on South Ferdon Boulevard across the street from the foot of Main Street in the former Southside Elementary School. Among other services, the school houses a pre-K program.

The lockdown was lifted by 10:30, Schneider said.
