NICEVILLE — Northwest Florida State College’s new CNC Machinist certification program can prepare students for a career in the high-wage, high-demand world of engineering technology, staffers said.
“Demand for mechanical engineering technicians and CNC machinists is expected to grow by 9 percent from 2012 to 2020," said Ray Rickman, chair of the school's Advanced Technology and Design Department. "There are numerous career opportunities for those who can master new software and technology, as well as traditional manual skills, and we can train them for all of those skills.”
The Engineering Technology degree and certificate programs prepare students for employment in manufacturing, electronics, aerospace or related industries. The programs teach communication and technical skills, safe and efficient work practices, and a combination of theory and laboratory activities necessary to support engineering design, processes, production, testing and product quality.
