Outdoor fitness camp coming to Crestview

Blake Miley of Miley Fitness will hold a fitness camp in Crestview beginning this month. An orientation for the program is Saturday morning.

CRESTVIEW — An eight-session fitness camp coming to Old Spanish Trail Park could greatly benefit the more than 20 percent of residents who are obese, fitness instructor Blake Miley said.

Miley wants to host what he calls a "massive" workout series that hundreds of people could attend at once.

The course, to take place at Old Spanish Trail Park pavilion, could begin in a couple weeks if enough people are interested.

"I'm not trying to put any gyms out of business," Miley said. "The point is … to give people another option. It's not CrossFit. It's something everybody can do."

CrossFit is a high-intensity strength and conditioning program. Instead, the Miley Fitness program would incorporate yoga, fitness kickboxing, bodyweight workouts, stretching and cardio exercises.

A Mississippi fitness coach's program, which drew more than a thousand participants in that state, inspired Miley.

"It was pretty awesome, seeing them all working out at one time," Miley said.
