Sheriff's office seeks information on church burglaries

CRESTVIEW — The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office seeks information about a string of church burglaries.

Between Sunday and Monday, a member of Antioch Baptist Church found evidence of a break-in and a small item was missing, the sheriff's office reported.

Last month, Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church and First United Methodist Church in Baker reported burglaries. Both incidents occurred within two days of each other.

Pilgrim Rest officials reported damage to their building in addition to missing an undisclosed amount of cash.

Two days after the Pilgrim Rest incident, First UMC of Baker officials contacted the sheriff's office after an air conditioning unit was hanging outside the church building's window. In addition to the forced entry, a missing lock box with no money inside was reported.

Anyone with information on the burglaries can contact the Sheriff's office, 689-5705, or Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers, 850-863-TIPS.
