A Laurel Hill man is charged with making a threat to throw, project, place or discharge a destructive device in connection with a Monday bomb threat at Paxton School.

Walton County Sheriff’s officers responded to a call from the school concerning an emailed pipe bomb threat.

Students and staffers immediately evacuated from the school and emergency responders remained on scene. A Bay County Sheriff’s Office bomb dog and its handler searched the school, buses and vehicles, and nothing was found.

Adam Joseph Allen, 30, allegedly stated in an email that the bomb was a pipe bomb.

A cyber-crimes investigator tracked the email’s IP address to Allen’s home, according to a sheriff's office news release.
