Scams targeting Gulf Power customers

Gulf Power customers in Okaloosa County have reported new credit card fraud causes.

Someone falsely indentifying himself or herself as a Gulf Power employee contacts a customer by telephone, says the electric bill is past due and threatens to cut service without an immediate credit card payment. The perpetrator then makes fraudulent purchases using the card number.

Remember:

•Gulf Power employees never call customers at home seeking personal information including credit card numbers.

•Gulf Power representatives never ask customers for money when they visit a residence.

•Gulf Power representatives carry badges with picture identification that includes the employee’s name and the company’s name and logo.

Customers should call Gulf Power at 1-800-225 5797 with questions about the identity of anyone representing Gulf Power.
