CRESTVIEW — Garden Park is now fit and trim with a weekend of volunteer labor and a local store's assistance.
Crestview High School's Leadership Class got down and dirty Saturday morning to help the Dogwood Garden Club maintain the area just off South Ferdon Boulevard and Main Street.
Students helped amend the soil, plant bushes and place stepping stones around the fountain, club member Thea Duhaime said.
"When they were finished with that, they helped by pulling weeds and older plants in other areas to prepare for spring planting," she said.
Duhaime expressed appreciation for the Crestview Lowe's home improvement store and manager Roger Jay for donating new stepping stones for the project.
In addition, she expressed gratitude for leadership teacher Stephanie Sanders and her students.
"The students from Crestview High School's Leadership class lent a huge helping hand to the Dogwood Garden Club Saturday," she said. "They have been involved in many community projects, and the Dogwood Garden Club is very grateful for their service."
