Okaloosa Hurricanes celebrate Spring Shootout victory

The Okaloosa Hurricanes of Crestview — including Trey Winston, Obian Howard, Dave Loggins, Russell Moorer, Kamareon Gainer, Xavier Lawrence, Jerome Brazan, Wes Corbin, Aaron Bates, Azareye'h Thomas and Jamarius Wilkes — took first place in a basketball tournament April 5-6 in Tallahassee. Coaches are Elton Winston Jr. and David Loggins.

CRESTVIEW — The fourth-grade Okaloosa Hurricanes, a traveling boys Youth Basketball of America team out of Crestview, is celebrating victory.

The boys won first place in the Comets Basketball Spring Shootout Tournament April 5-6 in Tallahassee.

"These boys practice hard on the court every week and also do well with their school work," a team spokesperson said. "We try to participate in a couple of tournaments a month and their goal is to win the YBOA State Championship in Fort Myers, Fla., at the end of May and also the  YBOA National Championship in Orlando in July."
