CRESTVIEW — With the school year winding down, it's not too early to start making summer plans.
A surefire hit for more than a decade has been the Crestview Bulldog Baseball Camp.
This year's camp is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon, June 12-14 at the Crestview High School baseball complex. It is open to boys and girls ages 4-13.
"It does seem like we've been doing it a while," Crestview baseball Coach Tim Gillis said. "It's something we enjoy. We have such a good time with it.
"The kids enjoy it and my players enjoy it. It's a fun time so we are looking forward to it."
As always, Gillis and the Bulldog players will teach the basics of hitting, fielding and throwing.
"It's fun because I get to know the families a little bit when they register and the parents are out here at the camp," Gillis said. "You develop a little bit of a relationship, too, and that's kind of neat.
"We just enjoy having a good time with the game of baseball. And to me, if you don't enjoy the game of baseball, you are not going to be very good at it. We like to have some fun with it."
