CRESTVIEW — Organizers are pleased with the community's support of Saturday's golf tournament fundraiser to purchase medicines and supplies for a Belize, Central America mission trip.
"I think we did well," Operation Medical Care representative Sharlene Cox said, declining to disclose event proceeds from the Foxwood Country Club event. "We had good weather, a really good tournament, 10 teams and great participation."
The teams lined up for chances to win a Quality Imports Mercedes Benz and a luxury watch from McCaskill and Company.
A Niceville golfer was about 16 inches away from the hole in one needed to take home the Mercedes convertible.
After the tournament, participants were served barbecue pork, coleslaw, baked beans, chips and dessert.
International Food Festival
The next fundraiser for Operation Medical Care's mission trip is the International Food Festival, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 15 at Bob Sikes Elementary School, 425 Adams Drive, Crestview.
Operation Medical Care representative Bernadine Peter said, "Medicine is the most expensive item for the mission," which is supported by the fundraisers. OMC mission participants travel to five to eight villages in Belize, treating children and adults.
Foods featured this year will include Thai, Vietnamese, Creole, Italian and Greek. Tickets cost $10 per person, and provide a taste of foods from each country.
Purchase tickets at the event or at Our Lady of Victory Church, 550 Adams Drive, Crestview.
