4 people injured in three-car wreck

CRESTVIEW — A three-car crash on State Road 85 Tuesday morning sent four people to the hospital with injuries. The crash occurred around 9 a.m. when a vehicle turning left off S.R. 85 was rear-ended and pushed into the path of an oncoming vehicle, according to a media release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Justin Daniel Allison, 16, of Crestview, was turning left onto Bill Lundy Road from SR 85 in a 2002 Toyota Tacoma. His truck was struck from behind by a 2014 Jeep Compass driven by Margaux Gunther Spendlove, of Navarre Beach. Spendlove, 30, and Allison reported no injuries.

Allison’s truck was pushed into the path of an oncoming 2004 Ford Expedition driven by Jack Dennis Stricklin, 37, of Laurell Hill, the release said. The impact between the Tacoma and the Expedition caused Stricklin's vehicle to go airborne and roll several times before stopping on the shoulder of the road. Stricklin was transported to North Okaloosa Medical Center with minor injuries.

Passengers in Stricklin’s vehicle were taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, according to the release. Jeremiah Matthews, 32, Melissa Matthews, 28, and Jerimiah Matthews Jr., 4, were transported with serious injuries. North Okaloosa Fire Chief Ed Cutler said Melissa Matthews was taken via Life Flight. The other two were transported via ambulance.

Everyone except the toddler was reported to have been wearing a seatbelt.
