CRESTVIEW — The Crestview High School football team has an additional $4,160 thanks to the Lee Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership.
On Wednesday, the dealership, on behalf of Dodge, presented CHS Athletic Director Tim Hatten with the check.
The funds were raised May 16 during a Dodge Booster Club fundraiser. During the school’s Red and White football game, several new Dodge vehicles — including the 2014 Dodge Durango, Journey, Grand Caravan and Dart — were on display and available for test drives. Dodge donated $20 per test drive to the school’s booster club.
“We had over 200 people test drive,” said Maureen Bierman, Lee Automotive Group's marketing director. “It definitely exceeded expectations.”
The funds will be used toward the school football team's general operating fund.
“It will be used towards uniforms, to travel (and) eating after the games,” he said. “It will be well spent and it was well needed.”
Hatten said he appreciates the students who brought their parents to the event.
“The kids did a good job getting the parents to turn out,and it helped us out a lot,” he said.
Hatten and Beirman said they are open to make the test drive fundraiser an annual event.
