Court date set for man accused of cheating, battery

CRESTVIEW — A 27-year-old man accused of "shoving" a pregnant woman after an argument has a July 22 court date.

Crestview police were called on June 21 for a verbal argument, according to the arrest report. Fernando J. Faust told officers there had been an argument with the woman over him being with another female.

Faust said he didn't touch the victim, but had a cut on his knuckle, the report said. He told the officer that the woman said she was pregnant, but he had not "seen any test results."

The woman said that during the argument, Faust had shoved her down and struck her in the head, according to the report. She said during the attack, her hand had also been injured.

She said she was three months pregnant. She couldn't complete a written statement due to the injury to her hand, the report said.

The officer spoke to a child that had also been in the house. The child told the officer a story that was similar to the woman's, according to the report.

Faust is charged with aggravated battery where the offender knew or should have known that the victim was pregnant.
