William Eddins, State Attorney for the First Judicial Circuit, announced today that Michael Tirrell White was convicted on Tuesday after a jury trial on the charges of Principal to Armed Robbery with a Firearm and Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery.
The charges arose in Crestview on Dec. 12, 2013 where White, Yoni Calhoun and Rasheik Calhoun attempted to rob the three victims. During the robbery, one of the victims was pistol-whipped by Yoni Calhoun and one victim was shot in the foot by Rasheik Calhoun. The victims managed to escape at that time. White was responsible for setting up a drug deal with the victims, knowing that the victims were going to be robbed. The victim’s recovered from their injuries.
White was classified as a Prison Releasee Reoffender and Habitual Felony Offender. Circuit Judge Michael Flowers imposed a mandatory life sentence in prison as to the Principal to Armed Robbery with a Firearm and 30 years on the Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery charge.
Rasheik Calhoun was killed by the Crestview Police Department on January 2, 2014 during a shoot-out with the police while they were attempting to serve warrants on him. Yoni Calhoun’s charges are still pending. He is currently in custody in Alabama on other charges.
The case was investigated by the Crestview Police Department. Assistant State Attorney Kimberly Torres was responsible for the prosecution.
