BAKER — A Crestview man stopped by a deputy for driving 75 miles an hour in a 55 mph zone in Baker ended up with more than a traffic ticket.
Michael Anthony Chessher, 37, is charged with driving with a suspended license (habitual offender) and trafficking in methamphetamine.
According to the arrest report, an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped Chessher Saturday after seeing him speeding down County Road Two. Chessher told him his driver’s license was suspended for driving under the influence. A check revealed numerous suspensions and that Chessher is also listed as a habitual traffic offender until 2017.
The sheriff's office arrest report states the deputy found a grocery bag behind the driver's seat which contained coffee filters, lithium batteries and a Coke bottle with the label removed. Inside the bottle was a pink liquid and white powdery substance he recognized as a methamphetamine “one pot” cook.
Chessher told the deputy he was in the beginning stages of producing the methamphetamine, after the deputy told him of his Miranda rights.
