Okaloosa business tax receipts now available online

Those conducting business in Okaloosa County can now complete the Business Tax Receipt (formerly Occupational License) application online.

Tax Collector Ben Anderson said, “Previously that transaction had to be completed in person. In our ongoing efforts to streamline customer service and make doing business with us as easy as possible, we encourage all new businesses to apply for their business tax receipt online.”

A business tax receipt is issued by the tax collector for those operating a business. Anyone providing merchandise or services to the public (even though a one-person company or home based occupation) must obtain a county business tax receipt. The cost is $35 per location, regardless of the nature of the business. New businesses may apply for a business tax receipt online by visiting: www.OkaloosaTax.com.

Before an Okaloosa County business tax receipt can be obtained, a business must meet all conditions required by city, county, state or federal agency regulations that apply to that business or occupation.

Many businesses will be subject to zoning codes. In Okaloosa County, a business located within a city limit requires both a municipal license and a county license to operate.
