Chevrolet dealer's new owner plans inventory increase

Allen Turner, owner of Allen Turner Chevrolet in Crestview, left and inset, speaks with Wayne McCranie, the dealership’s general manager. Turner, who purchased the former Award Chevrolet dealership on July 31, anticipates more community involvement from the dealership.

CRESTVIEW — Award Chevrolet's name may have changed, but the dealership's goal of exemplary customer service remains, according to the new owner.

'HONESTY AND TRANSPARENCY'

Allen Turner, a Gulf Breeze resident and owner of Allen Turner Hyundai in Pensacola, said customers can still expect no pushy or deceptive sales tactics from Allen Turner Chevrolet, the business' new name since Aug. 1.

Crestview's staff already has a “great reputation” for being straight-forward with customers, Turner said, adding that he will ensure such ethical treatment stays intact.

“Allen Turner’s business model is built on a foundation of honesty and transparency, a model that’s earned the loyalty of many customers at Allen Turner Hyundai — and will earn the loyalty of many more at Allen Turner Chevrolet,” a news release stated.

General manager Wayne McCranie, who has overseen day-to-day operations for the past 11 years, will continue supervising 35 employees, and the dealership will continue to offer automotive maintenance services, according to a news release.

'VIBRANT COMMUNITY'

Turner, the Pensacola dealership's owner since 1998, said Crestview's market has long interested him.

Allan and Burt Ward, longtime Crestview residents who owned the dealership since 1999, decided to get out of the car business, according to McCranie.

That decision, Turner said, provided an opportunity.

“We are excited about joining the community,” he said. “Crestview seems like a vibrant community.”

Turner said he plans to build on the dealership’s customer base and increase inventory on new and used vehicles.

In addition to joining the Crestview Area Chamber of Commerce, Turner said he wants to help area schools and other local organizations soon.

For now, the dealership is planning a grand opening sometime in September.
