CRESTVIEW — Shoal River Middle School's 2nd Annual Wet and Wild Mustang 5K is set for 10 a.m. Sept. 27.
Participation in the Shoal River football team fundraiser costs $25 per adult and $20 for students age 18 and under. T-shirts are guaranteed to participants who register by Sept. 21.
Register at www.active.com or from 8:30-9:30 a.m. on race day. Packet pick-up will take place the morning of the race beginning at 8:30 a.m.
"The race will take place on the beautiful 29-acre Shoal River campus, utilizing the cross country race course," an event spokesperson said. "The (untimed) 5K race will be on a variety of surfaces: gravel, dirt, grass and pavement."
One thing is certain: "You will get wet," the spokesperson said. "There will be unavoidable wet zones along the race course. Participants are encouraged to bring water guns to help soak fellow runners during the race."
Water gun refill stations will be available, and drinking water stations will be available at the halfway point and finish line.
A parent or guardian must accompany elementary school age children. No pets, vehicles, skates or bicycles are allowed, but wheelchairs and baby strollers are permitted.
