Hopes high for Okaloosa's fall tourism

Fall tourism is off to a slow start, but industry officials forecast a busy October.

Okaloosa Island and Destin will rely heavily on the upcoming festival season to boost visitor totals, said Ed Schroeder, head of tourism in Okaloosa County.

“There’s a lot of good stuff coming, and those events are events that bring overnight stays,” he said.

Events such as the H.O.G. Rally. the Destin Seafood Festival and the Destin Fishing Rodeo have the potential to reach people across the Southeast.
