Couple accused of burglarizing business, taking batteries

Carol Ann Seagle and Michael Anthony White

CRESTVIEW — A 20-year-old man and 20-year-old woman are charged with burglarizing a business and taking three 12-volt batteries.

Officers were called to the business at 6:19 a.m. Sept. 30, according to the arrest report. The victim reported the batteries and a cooler stolen.

Later that morning, the victim saw Michael Anthony White — whom he said he recognized from surveillance video of the burglary — according to the report. He wrote down White’s license plate number and called it in to police on Oct. 1.

In an unrelated case, White was picked up for driving while intoxicated at 11:51 p.m. Sept. 30, according to the report. When Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputies spoke to White in the jail, he “spontaneously uttered” that he and his girlfriend, Carol Ann Seagle, had stolen “three front end loader batteries and one Yeti cooler.”

He said he sold two of the batteries to a junkyard for $20 and the cooler to a person for $50, the report said. The items' estimated value was $550.

White and Seagle are charged with burglary of a structure unarmed without a person inside and theft of more than $300 but less than $5,000.

They are each scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 4.
