CRESTVIEW — Tuesday was a tough night for the Crestview High School boys basketball team against a talented Chipley squad.

Justin Campbell scored 29 points and Trent Forrest added 19 points as the Tigers beat the Bulldogs 65-52.

It took Chipley a few minutes to get untracked as Crestview led 10-6 after the first quarter.

Wesley St. Vil and Andrew Adkins each scored four points for the Bulldogs in the opening stanza. Points for Crestview (1-3) would be tough to come by the rest of the game.

The Tigers turned up the defensive pressure in the second quarter and as they did Campbell got untracked.

After scoring two points in the first quarter Campbell exploded for 13 points in the second quarter as the Tigers went on a 21-point tear to take a 27-20 lead into the half.

It was more of the same in the third quarter. Campbell and Forrest set the tone for the Tigers as the Bulldogs struggled to keep pace. Chipley stretched its 7-point lead at the half to 19 at the end of the third quarter leading 48-19.

Fifteen seconds into the fourth period Crestview’s Marquis McClain was called for a foul while battling for an offensive rebound.

Bulldog Coach Greg Watson charged onto the court as he strongly voiced his opinion to the official that the foul should have been called on the Tigers. The official called a technical foul on Watson. When Watson continued to argue the call he was hit with a second technical and ejected from the game.

The Tigers stretched the lead to 23 points after the Watson ejection before the Bulldogs made a late run to cut into the Chipley lead.

McClain scored seven of his 12 points down the stretch and Rusty Moorer scored four points in the fourth quarter for Crestview.

Adkins led Crestview in scoring with 13 points.
