Number of Northwest Florida Regional Airport passengers rises

Okaloosa County Airports authorities reported October was the busiest month ever at Northwest Florida Regional Airport.

October was the highest month for passenger activity at the Northwest Florida Regional Airport.

The number of departing passengers was up 8.19 percent over the same month last year.

Total passengers, including arriving passengers, yielded an 8.79 percent increase. It was largely due to Delta airlines adding more seating capacity, a county spokesperson said.

“Our airports are a vital part of economic development in Okaloosa County, representing 8,654 jobs,” Okaloosa County Board of County Commissioners Chairman Kelly Windes said. “I am pleased to see these numbers rise and look forward to more increases during the upcoming holiday period.”

Northwest Florida Regional Airport is a joint-use facility established on Eglin AFB in 1957. The airport has scheduled service on American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Continental / United Airlines, US Airways, and Vision Airlines.
