4 arrests made following sex offender verification operation

School Resource Officers with the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office Youth Service Division conducted a county-wide sex offender/predator verification operation on Friday.

Dubbed “Operation Verification," it focused on identifying and confirming addresses of all sex offender/ predators in Okaloosa County.

Approximately 343 individuals.

The SROs were tasked with not only the address verification process, but also with any criminal investigation or arrest relating to violations of Florida Statute.

The SROs were divided into two shifts: a morning shift and afternoon/night shift. Both shifts were divided into separate squads with an assigned team leader. These squads were then assigned to the different geographical areas within the county.

The morning squads started as early as 4:15 a.m., with the evening squads finishing at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Approximately 260 offenders/ predators were successfully verified and four arrests were made.

The arrests included outdated addresses on driver’s licenses/identification cards and failure to secure a driver’s license/identification card.

Several potential investigations are also pending.
