CRESTVIEW — Melinda Graham's fourth-graders at Antioch Elementary School shared in the season of giving.
Students read the article "Happy Campers," which shared how Sunrise Day Camp was established to give children with cancer, and their siblings, an opportunity to have positive experiences and forget their illnesses.
The fourth-graders wanted to give back, so instead of gifts to each other, they agreed to donate to a charity dear to their hearts, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
The children donated $300 to the hospital, and wrote letters to encourage and lift St. Jude children's morale.
"This group of children truly understand what Christmas is all about: love for one another," Graham said.
