Home invasion reported on Grimes Avenue

CRESTVIEW — The Crestview Police Department responded to the 100 Block of Grimes Avenue early Saturday regarding a possible home invasion.

As many as four people burst into the home and threatened the victim with a firearm, according the victim.

The victim described a black male, approximately 5 feet 9, with a slider build and a short hair cut. The victim reported that her face was covered by bedding and she couldn't provide any other descriptions.

The victim received minor injuries as a result of being struck by an unknown object.

As a result of the continuing investigation a search warrant was obtained for another residence at 205 Grimes Ave.

The search warrant was executed by members of the Crestview Police Department SWAT team with the assistance of the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division and a K9 unit from the Sheriff’s Office.

Several individuals who were in the residence or in the yard were detained, and several items of evidence were removed from the residence. The investigation remains ongoing and charges may be forthcoming in as the investigation continues.

While the scene was being secured, two individuals, unrelated to the search warrant, attempted to go through the secured area when instructed to wait. One suspect pushed a police officer and a second struck another officer, resulting in minor injuries, according to police.

Monica Ashe was arrested for battery on a law enforcement officer. Pernell Thomas was arrested for resisting officer without violence.

Both were transported to the Okaloosa County Jail.
