Economic Development Council schedules next roundtable

FORT WALTON BEACH — The Economic Development Council's March 31 roundtable will celebrate Okaloosa County’s century of progress, focusing on key drivers in the local economy.

The event, titled, “Fishhooks, Ferris Wheels & F-35s: A Century of Progress," is 7:30-9:30 a.m. at the Ramada Plaza Beach Resort on Okaloosa Island. It includes a breakfast buffet.

Confirmed panelists include Okaloosa Commissioner Kelly Windes; Greg Britton, Fort Walton Machining & NWF Manufacturers Council chairman; Gordy Fornell, retired U.S. Air Force lieutenant general; and Ed Schroeder, Okaloosa County Tourist Development Department. David Goetsch will serve as moderator.

“With Okaloosa County's centennial celebration this year, we felt it appropriate to use the EDC's first roundtable breakfast of 2015 as an opportunity to highlight some of the economic sectors that have contributed to our county's progress over the past 100 years," said Nathan Sparks, EDC executive director. "Defense, tourism, commercial fishing and manufacturing have all played key roles in shaping the Okaloosa County of today, and we are fortunate to have some of the most noted representatives of these sectors committed to speak…"
