Crestview middle schools compete in arcade game; your vote wanted

CRESTVIEW — Davidson and Shoal River Middle School students are participating in an arcade game competition this week, and you can decide who wins.

Davidson teacher Tim Sexton stated in an email, "One of the classes I teach is a STEM class called R.I.S.E. (Robotics, Integration, STEM and Education). Shoal River RISE class, taught by Laurie Allen, and Davidson Middle School RISE classes decided to turn it into a challenge between the two classes and to invite the community to see what we do with our STEM program and for bragging rights."

Students created arcade games made from cardboard and recycled materials. The public will be able to play the games from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 2 at the Twin Hills park gym, 100 Hathaway St., and donate pennies to determine the winner.

"Every penny is a vote.  The school with the most votes gets bragging rights of the city," Sexton said.

The pennies will benefit the schools' R.I.S.E. programs.
