CRESTVIEW — A finger-snapping good time awaits this weekend, when the creepy, kooky, mysterious, spooky and all-together ookey "Addams Family" — plus assorted long-deceased ancestors — takes over the Pearl Tyner Auditorium stage.
The Crestview High School drama program and Thespian Society's spring show is the 2010 Andrew Lippa musical based on cartoonist Charles Addams' macabre "New Yorker" comics.
Michael Brooks and Emily Jacobson perform the parts of Gomez and Morticia Addams, roles originated on Broadway by stage legends Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth.
Supporting cast members include Bryan Webb as Uncle Fester, Megan Keiffer as Grandma, Kris Allabaugh as Pugsley, Riley Williames as Wednesday and Luke Taylor as Lurch, the butler.
In the show, there's trouble brewing at Chez Addams when Wednesday invites her new boyfriend, Lucas, played by Douglas Black, and his parents, performed by Ethan Mitchell and Morgan Seip, to dinner.
To avoid scaring off Lucas, she begs her family to act "normal" for the evening, and eschewing 18 years clad in black, even wears a sunshine yellow dress for the occasion.
"You look like a crime scene," her frustrated father tells her.
The inevitable culture clash occurs, making for an evening of off-beat fun, catchy songs and beloved TV icons coming to life at Crestview High School.
