Rainey, Standridge and Kitchen earn Foy Shaw scholarships

Allison Rainey, Hope Standridge and Molly Kitchen are this year's recipients of the Crestview Area Chamber of Commerce's Foy Shaw Memorial Scholarship.

CRESTVIEW — Three North Okaloosa students are recipients of the Crestview Area Chamber of Commerce's Foy Shaw Memorial Scholarship.

The high school seniors represent each area high school, with Allison Rainey, from Baker; Hope Standridge, Laurel Hill; and Molly Kitchen, Crestview.

Rainey plans to attend Mississippi College; Standridge, Northwest Florida State College; and Kitchen, University of Florida, according to the chamber.

The $1,000 scholarship, annually awarded to three local students, commemorates Foy Shaw, the late former mayor and one of the Crestview chamber's founders.

Shaw, who was passionate about educating area youths, helped establish a Crestview campus for present-day Northwest Florida State College. He served on the college’s scholarship foundation in the 1980s.
