CRESTVIEW — Antioch Elementary is among four Okaloosa County schools that raised the most money for Children in Crisis Inc.

The annual Change for Children campaign aims to “teach children to help children” by donating their pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters to feed and clothe kids living at The Children’s Neighborhood in Fort Walton Beach, a news release states.

Jugs for change were distributed throughout Okaloosa and Walton County schools and students were encouraged to make the program fun. Examples of school fundraisers were “Pie the Principal," themed clothing days and talent shows.

The county's other top fundraising schools include Ruckel Middle School, Choctawhatchee High School and Liza Jackson Preparatory School.

The local campaign, sponsored by Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority of Okaloosa County, started in October 2008 as a fundraiser for CIC, a nonprofit organization. Since 2008, CIC has provided home to over 530 abused, abandoned and neglected children of Okaloosa, Walton, Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.
