Crestview News Bulletin announces new publisher

Diane Winnemuller

GateHouse Media has named a new publisher for the Northwest Florida Daily News, who also has oversight for nearby publications serving neighboring communities in Northwest Florida. These include the Crestview News Bulletin, Destin Log, Walton Sun and Santa Rosa Press Gazette.

Diane Winnemuller, publisher of the Asheboro Courier-Tribune in North Carolina, replaces Skip Foster, who left the company early this year.

“Diane is a proven leader with a passion for our print and digital products and the roles they each play in serving our communities and advertisers,” said Rick Martin, Central Regional Publisher for GateHouse Media. “She will be a great leader for a talented team across these properties and strong partner for the communities they serve.”

In addition to her six years with the Courier-Tribune, which is also a GateHouse Media newspaper, Winnemuller has a wide range of experience, including working in marketing, direct mail and destination sites.

“Through her work at our newspaper in Asheboro, North Carolina, Diane demonstrated the wonderful ability to connect with readers and advertisers, improve the paper’s focus on local content and lead our growing digital business,” said Bernie Szachara, Senior Vice-President for GateHouse Media. “We are thrilled to have someone of her caliber moving into this critical role for us.”

Winnemuller is looking forward to the opportunity, as well.

“I’m excited to live in Northwest Florida, but most importantly I’m excited about the challenge,” she said. “I believe that in the future, newspapers are going to win the day by focusing on local people, local issues and being actively involved in the community.

“We should be a leader for our community and a champion for everything that will grow the community and make it more sustainable for the future.”

The Emerald Coast is a dynamic area with strong tourism and growth potential, she said.

“I’m looking forward to introducing new products that will help residents and visitors make their lives easier,” she said.

She and her husband, Duane, have already moved to the area.

She welcomes the opportunity to hear from readers and community members. She can be reached at 850-315-4301 or dwinnemuller@crestviewbulletin.com.
