UPDATE:

Investigation continues after two pedestrians were struck by a vehicle on Wilson Avenue Saturday morning.

One pedestrian was dead on arrival and another is in fair condition at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, said Crestview Police Lt. Don Fountain.

Gleaning information from witness reports, Fountain said the driver either did not stop or failed to slow down soon enough at the stop sign at the intersection.

The driver had "very minor" injuries and was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

Charges are pending an investigation by Crestview Police Department's traffic homicide team.

Fountain said Florida Highway Patrol had offered assistance, but it was not needed.

"We're one of the few municipalities who are self-contained," he said.
