NICEVILLE — More than 100 law enforcement and corrections officers from around Florida have a better understanding of the psychology behind combat following a recent seminar.

Northwest Florida State College's Criminal Justice Training Center hosted “The Bulletproof Mind,” a June 29 presentation by renowned speaker and author Dave Grossman.

Topics ranged from terrorism to study of the mind under the stress of a gunfight. Other topics included violence in schools, the fight-or-flight reflex, a lesson on tactical breathing, and the importance of sleep.

Grossman — an expert in the fields of psychology and war — has lectured worldwide to different units of the military and law enforcement.

The former Army Ranger, infantry officer and professor of psychology at West Point has authored several books, including "On Combat and On Killing," which was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.
