Henderson awarded softball scholarship named in Crestview pitcher's memory

Taylor Henderson is the recipient of the 2015 Whitney Megan Langley Memorial Softball Scholarship. The scholarship was named in honor of a Bulldogs pitcher who died in 2007 following a car accident.

CRESTVIEW — Taylor Henderson exhibits the traits of leadership, teamwork and dedication.

That's why she's the recipient of the 2015 Whitney Megan Langley Memorial Softball Scholarship.

Whitney — a Bulldogs pitcher from 2003-2006 — died in 2007 from injuries received in a car accident. In her memory, the Langley family started a scholarship that is awarded to seniors who are exemplary softball players.

This year, Coach Holly Gibson, Whitney's sister, presented the scholarship. When she and Whitney played softball together, Whitney was the pitcher; Holly was the catcher.

"Whitney is forever loved and greatly missed," the family stated when announcing the scholarship winner.
