Crestview man gets 10.5 years after child porn, enticement

CRESTVIEW — A 48-year-old Crestview man is sentenced to 10.5 years in prison on charges that included trying to solicit sex from a 12-year-old.

William McNeal Goode was convicted of attempting to entice a minor for sex and receipt of child pornography in April 2015.

In addition to prison time, Goode will be on supervision for the rest of his life, according to a U.S. Department of Justice media release.

During his plea, Goode admitted that he posted an online advertisement to solicit sex with a minor in November 2014; an undercover law enforcement officer answered the ad, the release said.

The online conversations revolved around Goode trying to arrange a sexual encounter with the undercover officer's purported 12-year-old daughter, the release said.

Goode arranged to meet the officer in Pensacola, but was taken into custody after traveling more than 50 miles for a sexual encounter.

A forensic review of his digital media after the arrest showed several dozen images of child pornography and other online communications with people offering to let Goode engage in sexual acts with minors, the release said.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, the Pensacola Police Department and the North Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force conducted the investigation.

Goode, a former Okaloosa School District substitute teacher, is the husband of Northwood Arts and Science Academy Principal Donna Goode.

He was removed from the list of eligible substitute teachers in Okaloosa County as soon as the district was alerted to his arrest last year.
