NICEVILLE — The Northwest Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra and Junior Orchestra are both accepting new and returning musicians for fall 2015.
A limited number of merit and needs-based scholarships will be awarded; the registration fee is $125 per student per semester. Scholarship applications and registration forms will be available at the audition/rehearsal. Student musicians may also register in advance through the college's Continuing Education Department.
Junior Orchestra auditions and rehearsal are 9-10:15 a.m. Sept. 5 at Northwest Florida State College, 100 College Blvd., Niceville. They will be held in the orchestra rehearsal room, in the music wing of the Mattie Kelly Arts Center.
Membership is open to young musicians in grades 4 to 8 who have at least two years' experience with their instrument.
Youth orchestra auditions and rehearsal is 10:30-11:45 a.m. in the orchestra rehearsal room for student musicians from ninth grade through age 21.
All students should prepare a piece of their choosing, showcasing their highest level of ability. Auditions are two to three minutes long, so the musical selection need not exceed 1-2 minutes in length. Students should bring and extra copy of the chosen audition piece.
