CRESTVIEW — Twenty classroom and professional development mini grants of up to $500 each will be awarded to teachers Oct. 12, according to the Okaloosa Public Schools Foundation.
Okaloosa County School District instructional staff meeting certain guidelines may apply.
Classroom mini grants — which must address at least one of the science, technology, engineering or mathematics initiatives — must support:
•Development and implementation of innovative instructional activities or programs
•Expansion of an existing instructional program to include more students
•Purchase of materials, equipment or supplies to establish a new program or to enhance an existing program.
Professional development mini grants will support:
•Registration fees
•Travel, including mileage, housing and meals
•Required training and conference materials.
Mini grant proposals will be blindly evaluated by a Selection Committee drawn from Okaloosa Public Schools Foundation Board of Directors members.
Donations have been matched, dollar-for-dollar, by the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations to make the grant opportunity possible.
Interested instructional staffers can apply to by calling 833-9999 or 833-7614 by Oct. 2.
