Walker Elementary dads make doughnuts with their children

Walker Elementary School first-graders Talia Union, Darrin Jaime and Ayden Toole dig into sacks of donuts on Sept. 30. Trisity Land and Shane Roberts wait for their treats served by visiting fathers Joe Gallaher, Ryan Adams and Chris King.

CRESTVIEW — Walker Elementary School first-graders now know something new about their dads: they can make doughnuts.

Fathers of Sandra Robinson’s students prepared the treats Sept. 30 — during Bring Your Dad to School Day — in the classroom.

Several fathers fried the homemade doughnuts that their students helped prepare by poking a hole in the center.

“The dads then gave them back in a paper sack of powdered sugar for the students to shake and coat,” Robinson said. “The dads seemed to have just as much fun as the kids.”
